A 2013 study concluded that niacinamide prevented cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s mice through improved neuronal activity and reduced breakdown of brain tissue (3).

The University of California, Irvine, (conductor of one of the above-mentioned mice studies) is working with the Alzheimer’s Association to study the side effects of treating Alzheimer’s with niacinamide. Late onset alzheimer’s disease This study is scheduled to be completed in June 2014 (5).
